From molecules to data.

Dr. Md Sahanawaz is a chemist, chemical data scientist and educator whose work sits at the intersection of chemistry, molecular information and machine learning.

He completed his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College in 2016 and his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from IIT Bombay in 2018.

He qualified CSIR-NET with All India Rank 17 and subsequently pursued doctoral research in Chemistry at IISER Kolkata.

His PhD research focused on photochromic receptors for nucleotide detection using machine-learning techniques, combining molecular design, spectroscopy, chemical sensing and multivariate data analysis. He completed his PhD in 2026.

His current research interests are increasingly computational, with an emphasis on cheminformatics, chemical data science, machine learning and molecular property prediction.

He currently serves as Lecturer and Head of the Department of Science & Humanities at Sheikhpara ARM Polytechnic, where he teaches chemistry to students from Medical Laboratory Technology, Food Processing Technology and Computer Software Technology.
